  • Paralegal with Criminal Defence Solicitors in Leicester for over a year, prior to joining Chambers.
  • Joined New Walk Chambers in February 2005.
  • Kajal is particularly aware of and able to deal with the very specific challenges faced by ethnic minority communities. Her knowledge of South-East Asian languages and the social, cultural and financial practices of the Asian subcontinent, allows her to deal with these cases sympathetically yet effectively.

    • Private Law: Applications under Section 8 Children's Act 1989. Including preparation and advocacy in the Family Proceedings and County Court.
    • Public Law: Advice and opinion provided in this area.
    • Ancillary Relief: Negotiations, financial dispute resolutions and final hearings conducted.
    • Injunctive Relief: Non-molestation and prohibitive steps hearings and committals.
  • Civil Litigation:-
    • Personal injury expertise to include advice upon liability and quantum.
    • Preparation of pleadings and conducting cases at all levels.
    • Breach of Contract (including debt claims), Tort claims and bankruptcy matters.
    • Advice provided on allocation to a particular track and issues of costs and questions of contributory negligence as well as counterclaims and other Part 20 Applications.
    • Conducts both Claimant and Defendant work.
  • Immigration:-
    • Kajal conducts hearings and appeals in matters of Asylum work, Entry Clearance, UK Work Permit Scheme and Deportation.
  • Employment:-
    • Advice given on unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal and wrongful dismissal.
    • Advice provided on discrimination Act 2006 upon Employee and Employer Rights and obligations.
    • Conducts both Claimant and Respondent work.
  • Crime:-
    • All matters in the Youth, Magistrates and Crown court undertaken. Including the preparation of specific applications (bail/terms of order etc) and conducting hearings and appeals.
    • Advice upon sentence and procedure.
  • In addition, work conducted at Coroner's Inquests.
