Areas of Practice

Simon completed a general common law pupillage in London, during which time he made various appearances in the both the Old Bailey and the Royal Courts of Justice.

Simon is a specialist civil practitioner providing advice, pleadings and representation (including ADR) in both fast and multi track cases. He has represented various legal bodies including plcs and local authorities.

In November 2007 Simon was appointed by the Attorney General to be Junior Counsel to the Crown. To date Simon has been instructed by the Treasury Solicitor to advise/represent the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice, HM Prison Service and the Identity and Passport Service, in matters of general litigation, employment law and coroner's inquests.

His main areas of practice are:

  • Contract - supply of goods and services, general commercial, consumer and building disputes

  • Real Property - rights over land, injunctions, nuisance, sale of land and boundary disputes

  • Landlord and Tenant - residential and business tenancies, possessions and breach of covenants including disrepair and rent arrears

  • Personal Injury - acts for Claimants and Defendants and has extensive trial experience with regard to both liability and quantum particularly in the areas of employers' liability, occupiers' liability, highways and road traffic accidents

  • Professional Negligence - all areas with particular experience in clinical negligence and solicitors' negligence

Additionally, Simon advises and appears in Employment Tribunal cases and advises on compromise agreements, particularly:

  • Unfair dismissal - dismissals based on conduct, capability and redundancy reasons and those where constructive dismissal is alleged

  • Discrimination - sex, race and disability

Simon also has experience in bankruptcy and insolvency (petitions and applications), education admission appeals (sitting as a legal advisor for a local authority), coroner's inquests and human rights law.

Simon is a qualified pupil supervisor and registered to undertake public access work
