William Hillier LLB Barrister

William is taking some time away from his civil practice and is living in the USA. He is currently working with the Ohio Public Defenders Office, Death Penalty Division, on their lethal injection project, examining the constitutionality of Ohio's lethal injection protocol.

He is also a legal advisor for Ohioans To Stop Executions, an organisation committed to abolishing the death penalty in Ohio.

He plans to return to practice some time in 2009.

William is becoming a civil specialist but also enjoys ancillary relief work and disputes between cohabitees. His practice includes:

  • Landlord and Tenant - possession proceedings, anti-social behaviour, injunctions, rent arrears, breach of licenses and other tenancy disputes.
  • Real Property - boundary and title disputes, trespass to land and co-ownership disputes.
  • Chancery - including contested trusts and probate.
  • Commercial - contractual disputes, factoring agreements, sale of goods, credit hire and finance leasing.
  • Insolvency and Bankruptcy - both company insolvency and individual bankruptcy work. He represents both creditors and debtors.
  • Family - representing parties at all stages in ancillary relief proceedings, financial settlements for non-married couples and financial provision for children under the Children Act. William also accepts instructions for private law contact disputes and injunctive relief under the Family Law Act.
  • Negligence and Personal Injury - acting for Claimant and Defendant in relation to both liability and quantum at all levels of trial. William represents both insurers and private individuals alike.
  • Employment - with particular experience in unfair dismissal claims.

In addition to his court work William frequently assists Solicitors and clients with written advice and pleadings in both non-contentious and litigated actions.
