Kajal was awarded the Jules Thorn Scholarship by Middle Temple. She went on to achieve a Very Competent following completion of the Bar Vocational Course at Nottingham Law School and joined chambers in 2006.
Kajal has a general Common Law practice and is known for her meticulous preparation and excellent client care. She often receives feedback from solicitors and clients alike, complimenting her down-to-earth yet robust attitude. Kajal prides herself on working as a team with her instructing solicitors.
Since 2018, Kajal has been the Middle Temple Chambers’ Representative. In May 2020 Kajal was appointed as the Local Bar Representative for the Midland Circuit for Leicester and Lincoln.
Areas of Practice
Kajal conducts both Claimant and Defendant work and has extensive Fast Track Trial experience. She is also instructed to attend Multi Track Trials, Disposal Hearings, Stage 3 Hearings and Infant Approval Hearings.
Her main areas of practice are:
- Personal Injury, including Road Traffic Accidents, Occupiers' Liability and Employers' Liability.
- Credit Hire
- Application Hearings
- Housing/ Landlord and Tenant, including Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions, rent reviews, possession hearings, tenancy deposit cases. Kajal has appeared on cases involving service charge claims, rent arrears and housing disrepair.
- Insolvency, including Winding Up Petitions and Bankruptcy Petitions.
Kajal has experience in representing all parties in children cases in both Private and Public Law matters. She is known for her reassuring manner with clients and putting them at ease.
Private Law Proceedings:
Kajal is always mindful of the emotional needs of her clients. She accepts instructions and is experienced in:
- Section 8 Childrens Act proceedings such as:
· Residence;
· Contact;
· Prohibited Steps Orders, including proposed removal of children from the jurisdiction; change of school etc.;
· Specific Issue Orders, including applications for change of name when agreement cannot be reached and leave to remove from the jurisdiction;
· Fact Finding Hearings; and
· Contested Final Hearings.
- Applications for Declaration of Parentage
- Domestic Violence and Injunctive relief under the Family Law Act - Particular interest in Non-Molestation Orders, Committals and Ex Parte applications.
- Committal hearings
- Has represented local authorities, parents, children, relatives and intervenors in care proceedings.
Immigration appeals, including Entry Clearance, Human Rights, Asylum, EEA matters, Deportation and Bail.
